Why You Need A Beard Conditioner

Traditional conditioner for your hair is used to increase softness, manageability and shine - so why wouldn't you want the same benefits for your beard? Incorporating a proper beard conditioner into your grooming routine and taking your beard care a step past the bar of soap will work wonders, trust us. A beard conditioner is formulated specifically for the hair on your face which tends to be more coarse than the hair on your head. It is also designed with the skin under your beard in mind, offering hydration and skincare benefits to prevent irritation and dryness.

Beard conditioners also contain anti-tangling agents that coat the hairs, preventing tangling and roughness which is especially helpful on longer beards. If you experience the dreaded "beardruff" - you will want to add a beard conditioner to your routine ASAP - caused by a lack of hydration, beardruff can lead to flaking and irritation while also feeling itchy. Check out some of Tommy Gun’s favourites including The Art of Shaving’s Peppermint Beard Conditioner and Billy Jealousy’s Beard Control and be on your way to a better, healthier, more manageable beard!

Who Is It For?

A Beard Conditioner is for anyone with facial hair, no matter what hair type or length you keep. If you are still unsure, here are a few signs to look out for:

  • Itchy and/or uncomfortable facial hair and skin
  • Tangled beard hair
  • Tightness in the skin beneath the facial hair
  • Beard dandruff or flakiness

If you are experiencing any of these issues, that means you probably need a beard conditioner! If a beard conditioner is new to you, we are here to help - check out the following how-to for best results.

How To Use It

Step 1 | Cleanse with beard shampoo and rinse thoroughly prior to using beard conditioner.

Step 2 | Dispense a nickel-sized amount of beard conditioner into palms and distribute evenly into the beard. Feel free to use more depending on your beard length/thickness.

Step 3 | Work the conditioner through facial hair using your fingers or a comb and massage into the skin beneath, leave in for a few minutes before rinsing.

Step 4 | Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and proceed with the rest of your grooming routine. We at Tommy Gun’s also suggest using a beard moisturizer or beard oil after cleansing and conditioning to lock that moisture in, Suavecito’s Beard Butter or Rockwell Razor's Beard Oil  are both a great option!

Incorporating a beard conditioner into your routine is not a lot of extra work and the rewards/results are definitely worth it! Keep your beard looking and feeling fresh while treating and caring for the often neglected skin under your beard, all in one easy step. Feel free to reach out to a Tommy Gun's team member for help picking the perfect beard conditioner or check out our full selection online here
